CD Poker review

CD Poker is an iPoker client, so it's the same interface as Victor Chandler, Titan poker and a good few others.

I signed up for the free $50 promotion through pokerstrategy.com and had a look at the cash tables. They feature all the usual games, texas holdem, stud poker, omaha hi-lo but not some of the more unusual ones like razz (For Razz poker I recommend Full Tilt Poker).

I sat down and had a play at a 10c-20c table. buying in for 5 dollars. At this level, if you play pretty tight you should be able to make money easily. I wouldn't suggest trying out higher stakes yet, unless you are winning consistenly at this level. I managed to double up twice and got up from the table with 20 dollars. Nice start !

After this I had a look at the sit and go tournaments on offer, and noticed that like most other iPoker clients, they offer all the different stakes. Starting at under $1, then 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, 30, 50 , 100 and finally for some high stakes players, $200 sit and gos. I played 2 sng's for $5 with 30 players, lost the first one (trying to chip up too eagerly) but managed to get the second prize on the second tournament. Players at this site are not particularly strong I would say. I saw a lot of people calling off all their chips with middle or even bottom pair.

I was quite happy with CD poker untill I played a $2 sit and go with 20 people this time. When it got down to 4 players, there were 2 players obviously playing together. They were giving each other chips to stay alive and make the money. The other player also noticed this and complained in the chat. I typed that if they did it 1 more time I would get a moderator to kick / ban them. Well, you guessed it, they did it again ! I went to live support and did not get a reply there, but my email to support was answered very kindly and they had looked into the hand history and agreed that they had cheated. They had credited my account with an extra $4. Now of course it was not about the $4, but just the principle .. I hate it then people collude against the other players, it's not fair game.

So the support department of CD poker gets extra points from me for this reply. I will write about this situation some more in an article pretty soon. I'll link to it from here when it's ready.
